Fashion is never just about fabric and cut: it is, above all, emotional. This is the premise that BIRROT, the Korean-Danish label founded by Min Kim and Sey Hong, places at the heart of its Spring-Summer 2026 collection, aptly titled Emotional Layers.

The language of fabric

At the center of BIRROT’s creative practice lies its signature Lay fabric, a bonded stretch crêpe developed by the house and refined season after season.

For SS26, the fabric evolves once again: the 3.1 Lay skirt embodies this innovation, merging three layers of structure at the waist before cascading into a single asymmetrical drape. It is a study in dualities: tension and fluidity, order and ease: distilling the essence of the brand.

Silhouettes that come alive on the body

Unlike Western tailoring, where bodies conform to garments, BIRROT’s pieces honor the Korean tradition of fluid adaptability: clothes remain two-dimensional until they meet the body, taking on its shape and spirit.

This season, the approach is heightened through drastically oversized and undersized proportions, challenging conventional ideas of volume.

The elegance of play

“We always want to give people a way to play with their garments,” says Min Kim. That intention is woven throughout the collection: modular buttons, snaps, and adjustable details allow wearers to reimagine silhouettes in real time. Behind BIRROT’s refined restraint lies a quiet sense of playfulness.

A tactile palette

Textures move between contrasts: gauzy organza, buttery cashmere, crisp recycled poly-cotton, and evolving variations of Lay.

The color story remains muted yet evocative: brick red, moody indigo, and sandy beige punctuated by a delicate touch of baby blue.

Brutalism meets subtle poetry

The show unfolded on Paper Island, its raw concrete backdrop amplifying the dialogue between structure and softness. The finale presented the collection as a whole, offering a panoramic view of the season’s chromatic narrative. Soundtracked by Korean artist Bek Hyunjin, with additional production by Yourhighness, the atmosphere was both intimate and industrial.

An identity sharpened

With Emotional Layers, BIRROT strengthens its singular voice in contemporary fashion: a fusion of Scandinavian minimalism and Korean precision, a wardrobe designed to be both modular and deeply personal. Each garment is not simply clothing, but an emotional extension of the body: a layer of empathy made visible.
