A Wardrobe for the Real World

On Wednesday, 6 August 2025, STEL, the fashion and lifestyle brand by Danish designer Astrid Andersen, unveiled Collection 05 at Copenhagen Fashion Week. This collection is unapologetically designed for life in motion, where work merges seamlessly into leisure and the pace of the day never slows.

Every piece is meant to be lived in: tailored enough to suggest sophistication, yet unrestrictive, refined yet practical: a reminder that style doesn’t have to be a punishment.

Astrid Andersen explains, “Approaching something new with STEL, I really wanted to sit at the centre of the brand. Creating a wardrobe that felt inherently me: comfortable and confident.

Being back home in Scandinavia reminded me of my heritage, thoughtful, lasting design, whether in fashion, furnishings, or architecture.

From perfecting the construction of a bomber jacket to the functionality of a trouser, my pursuit lies in contemporary precision. Where fit and fabric matter, each new collection reflects looks to be lived in.”

Key Looks That Demand Attention

Collection 05 leans into modular dressing, staying true to the brand’s philosophy of see-now, buy-now. The flight bomber, inspired by the classic khaki jacket, is reimagined in green nylon and paired with matching trousers for a contemporary suit that whispers “yes, I have taste and I also commute.”

Pleated skirts are layered over houndstooth trousers, cardigans boast asymmetrical cuts, and tied shirting invites playful silhouette experiments. These are pieces meant for movement, for urban living, and for those rare moments when style meets function without a debate.

A Show that Feels Like the City

Housed in a vast film studio and inspired by Ed Ruscha’s Street Meets Avenue, the runway became a living urban intersection. Models glided with choreographed intent through a sculptural grid, punctuated by streetlamp installations and projections from Peter Funch’s Babel Tales. The audience was no longer passive; woven into the flow of the presentation, they became part of the cityscape itself. It’s fashion theater that whispers, “If you wanted quiet, you’re in the wrong place.”

Where to Find STEL

Collection 05 is now available at END, Selfridges, Storm Copenhagen, and online at Stelstores.com. The brand continues to assert itself as a staple for those who value modernity with a Scandinavian sensibility, and a hint of urban edge.

The Creative Minds Behind the Collection

Creative direction was helmed by Astrid Andersen herself, with MOON International handling art direction and Ioana Ivan on styling.

Emma Matell directed casting, Fransiska Bramsen choreographed movement, while hair and makeup were perfected by Marianne Jensen and Rikke Dengsø Jensen. The soundscape, curated by Mads Bergland, and the set, built by Creative Collection, merged effortlessly to frame the designs. Dr. Martens provided footwear that balanced toughness with the collection’s elegance.

Astrid Andersen: From Menswear Rebel to STEL Visionary

Astrid Andersen, trained at London’s Royal College of Art, first made waves with her eponymous label in 2010, fusing sportswear silhouettes with tailored precision. Her early accolades include Vogue Italia’s Talent 2010 nomination, London’s Fashion East NEWGEN MEN programme, and Hypebeast100 recognition in 2016.

She has collaborated with A$AP Rocky, M.I.A, and translated her rebellious menswear aesthetic into a powerful womenswear debut in 2017. Returning to Denmark, Andersen redefined her creative vision with STEL, launched in August 2024, quickly becoming a mainstay at Copenhagen Fashion Week and earning a nomination for the Wessel & Vett Fashion Prize.

Conclusion: Living the STEL Life

Collection 05 proves that STEL is not just a brand but a philosophy: clothes designed to be worn, moved in, and occasionally admired while running late for life.

Astrid Andersen has once again captured the delicate balance between practicality and panache, reminding us that modern fashion doesn’t have to ask for permission to be bold. And if, by chance, your outfit makes a passerby double-take, well, that’s just a bonus.
